For vintage watches which are made before 1940s, there is no shock absorber system for balance staff.
Therefore, if they are shocked, the pivots of balance staff can be broken.

It is used in blued carbon steel material of appropriate hardness.
Hard materials are fragile to impact, and soft materials can bend or wear quickly.
